What can physiotherapy do for you?

Physiotherapy is not just about making you exercise or helping your rehabilitation after an injury or operation.

It is an integrated approach to treatment that considers your physical wellbeing as well as your mental and social wellbeing.

For you to be able to live your life well, you need to feel empowered by your body, not restricted by it.

Physiotherapy can help you with pain management, injury prevention, rehabilitation, mobility, function and help optimise health and wellbeing in a world that puts ever increasing demands on our time and resources.

For you to be able to live your life well, you need to feel empowered by your body, not restricted by it.

Physiotherapy that empowers you to live well.

Treatment is customised for you with your very specific needs in mind.

What can I do for you?

I treat all neuro-muscular-skeletal problems. That’s any condition which involves your joints, nerves, muscles, tendons, ligaments and bone. This includes back and neck pain - acute or persistent, other joint problems, including hips, knees, stiff or painful shoulders, tennis elbow, headaches and post operative rehabilitation.

My approach includes a range of techniques :

  • manual therapy

  • soft tissue mobilisation

  • dry needling

  • exercise prescription to suit your needs and preference.

Alongside this, I provide all important education, advice, guidance and support designed to help you to continue to maintain and develop your levels of fitness and ability.

Treatment is customised for each individual with your very specific needs in mind. Everyone is different. I take into consideration the different factors which affect your lifestyle, how you like to do things and your level of activity.

My ultimate goal is to provide you with the methods and support you need so you can realise your ability, worth and potential which enable you to feel like yourself again. If you can move better, you feel better and live better.

Who am I?

I am Clare Bourne, a South African trained physiotherapist with over 35 years of experience.

I worked in the USA at Texas Back Institute and in South Africa in private practice before settling in Jersey in 2007 where I have worked ever since.

When I’m not treating my patients, I love to run, my weekly yoga and the outdoor joys of Jersey. I have two great kids, a wonderful husband and good friends who go a long way to help me keep the balance and live well.

Jane

“Thank you for helping me through my back/muscle angst. I played my best game of golf ever on Saturday! I’m practically back to normal. Thank you again for your expertise and reassurance, it meant a lot.”

Lucy

“Me and my family have been seeing Clare for various injuries for at least 10 years and, in my case, twice for frozen shoulders and, more recently, some torn ligaments in my hip following a skiing accident. Clare has always been kind and caring and has really supported me in my recovery each time referring me to specialists when needed and giving me tailored exercises to complete as the recovery gets under way. Clare has also guided me through each recovery and encouraged me to return to the exercise I love at the earliest opportunity. I have always felt very lucky to have Clare looking after me.”
